Job Descriptions
Full-Time R/HVAC Technician
Location: Metropolitan New Jersey & New York 5-Boroughs
Reports to: Roly Anthony Calero
Majestic Mechanical is seeking a dedicated R/HVAC Technician responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of various equipment. This includes refrigeration units, ice-making equipment, Glycol systems for beer, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, and humidifiers.
- Install, repair, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot:
- Refrigerant controls (mechanical & electronic)
- Hermetic Scroll and Discuss compressors
- Heat Pumps (up to 15-ton)
- Split and packaged systems (up to 15-ton)
- Ductless splits (up to 5-ton)
- Electric motors (3-phase and 1-phase, 208 volt & 460 volt)
- Electric motor controls (contractors, starters, relays, disconnects, thermostats, etc.)
- Light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, and related controls (oil and gas)
- Various types of water pumps & inline booster pumps for cooling towers
- Intake and exhaust fans with actuator-driven motors
- Unit heaters (hot water, steam, and electric)
- Economizers (indoor and outdoor package units)
- Humidifiers
- Perform tasks such as soldering, brazing, basic heat load calculations, and basic heat loss calculations.
- Check in with the office for scheduled jobs after each job and at the end of each workday.
- Communicate with clients at the beginning and end of each task.
- Complete all company-provided forms during and/or at the end of each task.
- Assist other company technicians as needed.
- Secure parts and tools needed for various jobs throughout the day.
- Report repairs to the estimator or field supervisor and provide necessary information for quotes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have an Apprentice License and EPA Certification with at least five (5) years of trade-related work experience or a similar combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain and operate a company vehicle.
- OSHA 30 and SST 40 certifications, including Fall Protection and Drug & Alcohol training.
- Preference for candidates residing in Union, Essex, Hudson, Bergen, Eastern Morris, and Passaic counties.
- Understanding of basic refrigeration and heating cycles.
- Ability to diagnose problems using HVAC/R manifold gauge sets, pressure/temperature charts, and temperature measuring devices.
- Proficiency in using multi-meters to read voltage, current, and ohm resistance values.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits and read mechanical drawings or blueprints.
- Excellent time management skills and effective communication with different personalities and skill levels
- Driving a service van in Metropolitan New Jersey and New York 5-Boroughs with occasional out-of-state travel and overnight stays in company-provided hotels.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, push, pull, carry, or maneuver items with additional manpower or appropriate devices.
- Work from heights, in small crawl spaces, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
- Exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock.
- Work in both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and electrical currents.
